Romans 10:9-13 "That if thou shalt confess with they mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved..."
Do you remember the moment you got saved? The moment you read and BELIEVED the aforementioned scripture. Do you remember what led up to that defining moment? I'm not talking about when you were 10 years old getting baptized, but when you REALLY committed your life to Christ. Throughout life you'll make many decisions, but this one is by far the most important one. What has your life been like since you've been committed? Has your life changed for the better? Are the people you once considered your closest friends now your old friends? Are you a better person? Have you established a forever growing relationship with God? Or if you just recently got saved, do you think your life will change for the better? Do you believe YOU will change for the better? Are you ready to experience the goodness of God? Can you handle God's favor?
That defining moment was the first step of you defining who you are in Christ; therefore, your answer to most of the questions above should be "yes". Committing to Christ is good, but you have to go a step further by submitting to Christ. Submission is crucial to our faith. Skipping submission can hinder our spiritual growth. Submission involves humbling yourself enough to realize that you do not have all the answers; therefore, you relinquish control to the One who does. Humility! Now that is a character trait that was scarcely distributed, but don't forget he who humbles himself on earth will be exalted in heaven. Get there!
It doesn't matter what happened to you before you reached your defining moment because in that moment you were delivered from your past. When you made that decision you became a new creature. You stepped into faith and yes, now your life has changed (or will change) and it will never be the same. Yes, YOU have changed (or will change) into a much better person than you were before. And NO not everyone will like it or agree with it, but it doesn't matter. You now walk in favor, God's favor. God's favor shows that against all odds you'll still be chosen, you're still the victor, and you'll still win the war.
Sure, you lost (or will lose) a lot of friends but you also gained a friend named Jesus whose loyalty alone is worth more than a thousand twitter/instagram followers, 3 BFFs, and hundreds of Facebook friends. Talk about a lesson of humbleness! Jesus in John 15:15 calls US (sinful, disobedient, ungrateful people) His friends. I can only speak for myself when I say if He is the ONLY friend I have then I'm okay with that. I'm 100% positive that there is not one person on this earth that I call friend that would die for me, there is no one I trust more, and there is no one who loves me more.
Start this week by remembering your defining moment because if it had not been for that moment you wouldn't have this moment! #FearlessFAITH
