Life Is....

Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.

As a young person in this world, it gets hard to really enjoy life. There are so many things pulling at us every day that makes us question our lives. Is life only about making money? Is life only about one day having the fairy tale relationship that leads to the happily ever after? Is life only about what I want and need? Is life suppose to be lived like the celebrities who seem to be the envy of most Americans? What is life about? Well, on this journey, I find that the answer to that question is in Christ. Jesus lived the perfect example on earth on what life is all about, glorifying God.

Jesus came unselfishly and died unselfishly to be risen and united with His Father again for us. Living in the hands of God being guided and directed into His desires for us is what our lives should be about. It is the only way to enjoy life. Sometimes we feel pressured into being what others want us to be that we forget their portrait of us isn't what dictates our fulfillment, but how God sees us. Even our own preferences can be a slap in God's Face complaining about what we lack when He wants us to be grateful for what He has currently gave us. My own life as an example can be used as an illustration. Allowing my ambition to override God's Timing is a great weakness I am dealing with and He is teaching me patience and contentment. So life is hard, sorrowful, meaningful, purposeful, enjoyable, memorable, and lovable.

What it is not suppose to be is unfulling. Stop dwelling on what you want and focus on what God wants. We are to live to please God. So, if your life of pleasing Him involves riches, marriage, kids, being a preacher, lawyer, or a janitor then great! Just make sure you are living to please God and those are a result of His Plan and not your plan. Living our lives to suit our fleshly desires only results in destruction. So life is...not just what we make it, but also Who we actually live for. Who are you living for? You? Your parents? The world? Or God? #LifeIs #FF

Don't worry, Be happy

Psalm 68:3 "Buy may the righteous be glad and rejoice before God; may they be happy and joyful"

"Don't worry, Be happy" was life's motto when I was a child as I'm sure many of you can remember learning the song in our early childhood years. You have to wonder why this was instilled in us at such an early age. Surely none of us knew what it truly meant to worry; in fact, being a kid was probably one of the happiest times of my life because I had no knowledge of worry. Just as the movie starring Will Smith, we are all in the "Pursuit of HappYness" whether we admit it or not. And just like love, happiness is a term that is very difficult to define because it means something different to each of us.

Who knew that pursuing happiness would be so challenging? Perhaps that's why they began telling us at an early age not to worry but instead be happy. Unfortunately, there is no formula to achieve happiness, but there is a certain mindset one must possess. It all reverts back to Friday's post in regards to overall wellness. Through spiritual wellness you hold to key to your own happiness...YOU define what happiness means to you. So do what the picture above says and I can assure you happiness will be sitting on one of those steps waiting for you.

Motivational Monday: Accountability Partner

Psalm 62:5-12 "I depend on God alone; I put my Hope in Him..."

It's essentially still the beginning of a new year as well as the beginning of a new month. At the start of the year many of us make New Year Resolutions to lose weight, stop cursing, stop smoking, or to improve whatever area of your life that is necessary. In doing this we seek out an accountability partner, but why do we put so much pressure on man who has proven himself to be just as unworthy and unreliable as we've been to ourselves?

I get it! We all have goals, they may all be different, but nonetheless we all have them. Sometimes we need that extra push to accomplish our goals or to initiate the process of being productive daily. An accountability partner is usually a person that can do that and be that for us right? Who is your accountability partner? How dependent is he/she? Probably not as dependable as Jesus. May I make a suggestion? Why not let Jesus be your accountability partner? I don't know anyone else who knows you better than He does and actually He knows you and your purpose better than you do. Allowing Him to be your accountability partner will not only help you accomplish your goals but it will also strengthen your relationship with Him; aligning your goals with His purpose. Still not convinced? Okay let me give you a few reasons why Jesus is more than capable of being your accountability partner.

1. He's Jesus! He conquered the grave...has your current accountability partner done that?
2. He is the reason breathe is breathed into you daily and your limbs have the ability to move
3. He can give you strength when you are weak. Yes your current accountability partner may be willing to do that for you, but it is impossible for them to actually do it.

So, I challenge and motivate you this Monday morning at the start of a new month to allow Jesus to be your accountability partner. Try to live up to the standards that He has set your you only then will you truly be able to live in your purpose and accomplish yours goals. He's is the only person you should strive to please daily.
