Help Me!

Mark 9:24 "And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief"

HELP ME, LORD! Have you every cried out to God in the midst of your situation or circumstance and honestly didn't think He would or even could help you? I would not only be dishonest with you, but I would also be dishonest with myself if I proclaimed to never have questioned my faith or belief that God could and/or would do something in my life. Yes, I know Philippians 4:13 very well. Yes, I'm aware of Philippians 4:19. And I've quoted Romans 8:28 more times than I can remember; but I haven't always known who God was. So, the question is not whether or not I know the Word it's whether or not I believe in it and in Him.

As with most people, my life is far from how I imagined it to be. Honestly, if it were completely up to me I would've surpassed all my troubles if given the opportunity. Fortunately, for both you and I, those experiences have shaped us into who we are today. Although God brought me out of those dry seasons, as He said He would, I did experience times of unbelief.

It's so easy to believe in God when you can see Him actively moving in your life, but when you don't [see Him] doubt easily seeps in. I used to live by the saying "Seeing is Believing"; however, faith is the exact opposite (Hebrews 11:1). Often times when we don't see God working in our lives we don't believe that He is indeed working. Realistically, in our salvation we should be working so hard for God that we have no time to decide that He's not working along side us. Perhaps it is the ounce of unbelief that we have that prolongs our circumstance or prevents deliverance altogether. What's the point in asking God for something if you don't believe 100% without 0.1% of doubt that He will do it? I commend the humbleness of this man in the passage above who asked God for help with His unbelief. He was honest with God and himself which yielded the deliverance he sought for his son.

Honesty with God! Now that's a common practice that is not so common, but look at the results honesty got this man! His son was delivered! For some reason we have a difficult time being completely honest with God as if He doesn't already know. As I've said many times before God will not enter where He is not invited; therefore, He will not fix a situation that you have not come to Him with in all honesty. When we go to God we should be naked and Unashamed, but instead we go to Him naked and ashamed which is detrimental to our relationship to Him. Well Kim, how is that? Because when you're not honest with God you show Him that you don't trust Him which in turn hinders the growth of your relationship with Him and so on.

So when we go to God for help we must remember to be HONEST and BELIEVE. You can shout until the cows come home and dance up and down the aisle at church but if you don't believe then all of that means absolutely nothing. Whenever you feel doubt seeping in pray to God for help in your unbelief as this man has done. Don't allow the limitations of your mind to limit what you believe God can do. Let all of your worries, circumstances, and situations fall to the back as you allow God to come forth in your life. Know the God you serve; He is a believable God that does unbelievable things. He has raised the dead, restored the sight of the blind, fed the multitude with 2 fish and 5 loaves, and so on. The only difference between you and those people is their level of belief. Jesus proclaimed on the cross that IT was finished not the HE was finished which means He is still in the miracle-working business. He still heals, He still provides, and He still serves His people!
