It's all about your roots!

Psalm 1:3 "And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper"

By no means do I have a green thumb, but I'm well aware that in order for a tree to grow it has to be positioned in a place that allows proper nourishment. Being a scientist I am also aware that trees use a process called photosynthesis to convert light from the sun to the energy needed for their survival. The fruit, leaves or lack thereof on trees help us decipher which season we're currently in which can be metaphorically linked to our lives. Trees take on a very different look as they go between seasons and adapt to the weather conditions. Thunderstorms, ice storms, snow, extreme heat, lack of rain, and etc. may occur but because of their root system the trees are able to withstand all conditions. The strength of the tree lies within the depth of it's roots; therefore, the deeper the roots the stronger the tree.

Can you now see why this Psalm says what it says? In order for God to flow through us we have to be in a position to receive what He is giving in order to yield the fruits of the Spirit. You can't be in a job that doesn't allow you to grow nor can you be in a relationship that hinders your spiritual, mental, and/or personal growth. We sometimes fix in our minds that we'll be okay when we make it to a certain point in life which is WRONG! Don't be complacent where you are because as long as there is breath in your body you have room for growth. God planted a seed in you, so get where you can grow out in full bloom. Fruit has seeds which can be planted to make more fruit; therefore, make sure everyone you come in contact with gets a piece of your fruit to take with them to perhaps plant that same seed somewhere else. You never know...eventually there will be a world of good fruit.

Always remember that our roots must go deeper than the surface of the problems we face daily, weekly, or monthly. So, check your location! Make sure you're in a place where you can receive light from the SON (needed for survival) and water that will yield the fruits of the Spirit. No matter what kind of weather comes with the seasons your roots should be deep and strong enough so that you will not be moved. You may sway to the left and the right a little, all your leaves may fall off, and you may lose some branches but you'll never be uprooted. Go deeper in Christ and see what kind of strength you come up with.
