Luke 17:1 "Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to stumble are bound to come, but woe to anyone through whom they come."
Our spiritual journey is designed for us to move forward and upward. Does anyone climb a hill looking backwards? Does anyone climb a hill carrying with them everything they've every purchased? The answer to these questions is generally no; therefore, why do we take that approach with our spiritual journey. We try to move forward in Christ carrying all the burdens that He has instructed us to put down. We try to move forward with people who don't want to go; therefore, we try to carry them along with our burdens. These kinds of things will weigh you down keeping you stuck in a place where God cannot bless you and does not recognize you.
Going foward and upward is a challenge in an of itself and yes some days will be more challenging than others and yes you may stumble and yes you may get weary but you can't stop there. I'm so thankful for God and His word which says "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest". Don't be so caught up on what you've had to leave behind that you forget about what God has for you up ahead. Don't be so caught up on WHO you've had to leave behind that you forget who is on this journey with you; the One who has ALL power, the One who gives strength the weary and increases the power of the weak. Focusing on the past will prevent you from LIVING in the present and journeying to the future. Remember what happened to Lot's wife in Genesis 19.
When hikers prepare for a trip they take only what is necessary (not wanting anything that will weigh them down) and only allow people with the same goal to come along. It is important while hiking that you're not with people who will hinder your journey or cause you to stumble. No one wants to be the person in the group to cause anyone else to stumble so they help one another properly prepare, they encourage one another, and etc. We have to watch ourselves in our spiritual journey. Where we are strong another may be weak so we must be careful not to do anything that will cause them to stumble or hinder their walk with God.

Pack up for your spiritual journey! We have to be ready to leave some things and some people behind; throw away what needs to be thrown away and take with us only what is necessary. Decide who you're taking with you? You can't move forward if you're looking back so watch yourself!
