Psalms 107: 2 "Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy"
Redemption! AAAAHHHHHH what a wonderful thing!! I love the song Let the Redeemed of the Lord Say So by Israel Houghton. It is such an amazing and exciting song; it gets you up on your feet, pumping your fist in the air, and jumping around. But honestly what good is all that if you have no clue what redemption actually is? We sometimes get so wrapped up in the hype of a song that we miss the depth of the song. Remember we have to know the WORD itself and for ourselves, don't rely on what a song says. My mother is the leader of the The Vessels of Praise dance ministry in Ms. Every song that is ministered must correlate to scripture. They spend time meditating on that scripture and the song before the first rehearsal teaching our youth the importance of the Word and what ministering though dance really is. But that's a totally different post.
SO, what is redemption? Webster to my surprise *insert sarcasm here* has SIX definitions of the word redeem. For the sake of this blog I will go with the "to get or win back" definition. Redemption is spoken about in Leviticus 25:47-48; explaining that if you are in bondage or enslaved to someone you still have the right to be redeemed by one of your relatives.
If you are not saved (belonging to God) then you are of the devil, simple. Many of us are unaware that if we are not saved (meaning you have not accepted Jesus Christ as Lord) we are in bondage or enslaved. On the other hand, some of us who are saved still have certain circumstances and people that holds us captive which means we're redeemed but not freed. The ransom was paid long before you accepted your freedom. Jesus died on Calvary and defeated death so that you could be freed (won back). To redeem your redemption (ha that's an oxymoron) you must accept Jesus as Lord acknowledging that His death bought you back from the Satan and walk in freedom. You can't operate with a slave mentality if you've been freed. Jesus did His part now it's up to you! You are no longer confined to anything you are free!
Now, let the redeemed of the Lord say so!
