Proverbs 26:17 "He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own, is like one who takes a dog by his ears"
Most of us (myself included) spend a majority of our day scrolling down our timeline whether it be on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram when we could be doing something much more productive. While my social media accounts are used as a tool to encourage, uplift, and introduce people to the Word of God I still find myself engrossed in the lives of others. Why? Good question, and one that I can't really answer. What I do know is that spending time in matters that don't concern me is a hindrance to my own personal growth. Ask yourself, what is God trying to do in your life? Well, it's hard to know when you're concerned about what He or the devil is doing in someone else's life. Additionally, you should never let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. While taking the scripture out of context it my point here is that everything you do doesn't require public recognition whether good or bad.
So, here's a challenge. When find yourself in too deep on social media and you're looking for new info go to God in prayer; open up your Bible, your heart, and your mind to let God reveal new things to you. The best kind of gossip comes straight from the Gospel, the main source. Whenever you get the urge to vent via social media write it down and place it in your Bible next to a comforting scripture for your situation.
The book of Proverbs is often referred to as the book of wisdom. It has so much to offer God's people in regards to relationships, discipline, and prudence. The scripture above is the best illustration of telling people to mind their own business. The quickest way to get bitten is by putting your hands where they don't don't belong. So get in the Word and out of matters that don't concern you!
